What's that you say!.....Wer'e Gooood for your garden... Did I hear that right?

'' Yep...... that's right you cute little varmint.....You can actually help our plants grow.. but it has more to do with what you do or I should say what you create, that makes both our house plants and gardens healthy and strong. To learn more click the link below..

  1. Years ago I read an article in "Organic Gardening" magazine about someone who built a very nice hutch for his rabbit and below it, in the ground, he built a container for raising composting worms. The worms processed the droppings and urine further. I know people do worm culture. I guess he just took it a step further. I don't remember the details, but at the time I thought that was an interesting idea, so I have never forgotten it.

  3. I had bunnies prune a few of my plants last year. They grew back fuller than they were to begin with and looked beautiful all summer. Plus, bunnies are so cute it's hard to stay mad at the them.

  4. I've started seeing wild bunnies in our neighborhood in the last couple of years, none have come into our yard yet. We do have a pet rabbit and occasionally I will spread his droppings around.

  5. We have wild cotton tails that live here. I take count nearly every day, though we don't see them much in the winter. They live in the neighbors lilac wind break. During the summer near dusk I go out to the front pasture to count heads. Last year we had six that would take their evening meal in the pasture. We have fox and red tail hawks, so it is always a concern that the rabbits will disappear. So for, interestingly, they have not destroyed any of the garden.

  6. Casa... I think they are cute too, as long as they are not chewing on my veggies...LoL!

Catherine.. I have read that all one needs is one little bunny and its droppings to keep your plants happy and fertilized.

Ann...I'm thinking that perhaps there is so much for them to munch on out in the pasture that they haven't taken interest in your garden..

  7. Hi, Vetsy! Interesting blog post! I built a cage around my garden because the rabbits here were eating my veggies and not leaving any "thank you" droppings for me! LOL Are you ready to start growing? I am! I planted an apple tree yesterday and cleaned up the back yard. Today, I'm getting out there and turning over the soil in the garden. And then I'm going to start seeds indoors. My greenhouse is so warm though, that I may be able to put the seeds in the greenhouse! Yay! Can't wait to read your posts this year.

  9. Audra.... Thanks,... Now if I could just find those rabbit droppings. I live in the city and haven't found anyone in ownership of a rabbit or it's droppings LOL! I'll keep trying.

Carrie.... I've read that all one needs is one bunny. " My sister suggested that I go get one.... LOL! I don't think I can have one in a apartment.

  10. Hello Vetsy! Hmm... don't think I can find rabbit droppings here at my place. I can imagine them to be really good for plants. I always think animals that eat grass or just plants, the droppings they create are good for plants. Btw, that's a nice shot of the cute rabbit. Have a fun filled Easter :-D

  12. Hmmmmm, I'm not receptive to this idea. I put up rabbit fencing to keep them out, hehe. I have white tails in my area and they like to nibble and nibble and nibble. I spotted one today.

  13. Yeah the idea is to get the Poo from the host and leave the host out of our gardens.... LOL!

  14. Hi Vetsy, It was good to hear from you. Thanks for your comment on my blog. Thanks for the link. I don't have rabbits, and wish the wild ones would stay out of my garden, or at least not eat plants clear down to the ground. I did find some rabbit pellets in the front flower bed a couple weeks ago. I forgot to watch for them when I raked so the pile would stay in the garden, so I probably have it on the compost pile.

    Have a great Easter!
